I made this exactly as directed and the rice was extremely undercooked after 25 minutes. Did no one else have this problem?
Am I missing something? Most brown rice lists a cooking time of 40 – 45 minutes.

I haven't made this particular recipe, but in my experience the only way to shorten the cook time of brown rice to anything close to that time would be to soak it for at least an hour before cooking.
