Do I have to use tinfoil or is parchment paper just as good?

Hi one more thought, is it absolutely not necessary to line any pans with tin foil which is made by mining for bauxite - a nasty chemical and the mining process is devastating to the environment? Jamaica is where most of it comes from, for all of us trying to reduce our carbon footprint, parchment sheets work perfectly well. Thanks.
