Recipe substitute instant pudding for cooked pudding

I am making my grandmas pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving. It calls for cooked coconut cream pudding, which I can no longer find. I was able to find instant pudding. Originally you could pudding with milk and eggs. I do not know how to go about substituting with the instant version
