LACE COOKIE SUBmaking lace cookies---have no oats to sub for almonds--can I use walnuts instead?

recipe calls for chopped fine almonds. have none. recipe says sub almonds with old fashioned oatmeal. have only quick. can i sub walnuts or pecans? have both

YEP-----COULDN'T WAIT SO I USED PECANS INSTEAD OF WALNUTS INSTEAD OF THE DESIGNATED ALMONDS INSTEAD OF OATMEAL. THEY TURNED OUT FABULOUS!!!!!!

There are lace cookie recipes using oats, almonds, walnuts, pecans, and hazelnuts - so I don't see any reason why you couldn't. Whichever nut you opt to use is going to change your flavor profile, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. It's just a walnut lace cookie is going to taste of walnuts, not almonds, or pecans. They will taste good, no matter which you choose. Me, I am a fan of pecans, but I'd not turn down one made with walnuts- that's for sure.
