can I make just the cookie without the frosting?
Would the giant cookies on their own taste good too? I have three egg whites and want to use them up without going to the effort of making the frosting etc!

The macaron portion of the recipe calls for six egg whites. Either acquire three more egg whites or cut the recipe in half. Disregard the ingredients in the frosting portion. Stop after step 9. Done.
Note that you are free to substitute something else for the frosting: peanut butter, Nutella, jam/jelly, ice cream, pastry cream, azuki bean paste, whatever appeals to you.
