Can I use lemon curd instead of the preserved lemons?

The author suggests “ 2 tablespoons of grated fresh lemon zest with an added 1⁄2 teaspoon of kosher salt” in place of the preserved lemon. You might be able to use lemon curd, but you’d have to subtract some fat and sugar from the recipe to account for the fat and sugar in the curd.
