I would assume that the cuts should be from "north to south" -- that is, parallel to the "equator" of the orange. You would need a very sharp knife to make clean cuts without squashing the orange and losing the juice. Also, you could try cutting it with the peel still intact.
It would be challenging, but you could try a mandoline. (Wear cut proof gloves!!) if I want uniform slices of something, I’ll align a ruler on the top edge of my cutting board and try to cut (make sure your knife is sharp!) by following the lines. But I’m also not much of a perfectionist, so they’re never absolutely equal and that’s ok.

Cut a thin slice off the side of a orange. Tum the orange on the cut side, then use a sharp regular knife to cut 1/4" slices.
