Pickles taste like battery acid.

I've made these 3 times and each time according to the recipe. The very first time AMAZING! Second AND third time BOTH had a battery acid taste and the pickle juice had turned brown!! Please help!! What am I doing wrong?!

One explanation for the brown color would be minerals in the water, possibly in sea salt if you used that instead of pickling salt. I'm not sure what battery acid tastes like, but I'm wondering if you mean the liquid is too vinegary for your tastes?? If that is the case, then adding a bit more sugar to the mix, or perhaps a bit less vinegar might help.
