Why is my recipe coming out so runny?

Hi! I made this and doubled the recipe, I want to use it to frost a layer cake but it is so runny. What can I do to fix it I don't want to waste anything. I popped it in the fridge for a few hours and then re-whipped it with a hand mixer, it didn't really do anything but I didn't whip for too long. Please help!

The recipe specifies a firm ricotta, and I find a lot of that sold in supermarket tubs in the US contain too much liquid for this recipe. You can try draining it a bit in a sieve, probably lined with a coffee filter, overnight, to see if that doesn't help. In the future, drain the ricotta until is it nearly as firm as cream cheese. Then whipping it will render a nice frosting.
