Does this recipe have water as one of the ingredients?

The ingredients listed do not have anything about water as one of the ingredients but several reviewers comment on the water quantity and adjustments they made -- adding less water -- substituting bouillon for water. So, I'm confused as to whether I'm supposed to put water or not since it's NOT listed in ingredients or directions from author. Please advise. I'm planning to make this today.

Hi Judy! There's no water in the recipe. The confusion I think comes from the can of condensed mushroom soup that some may have added water to, though you're not supposed to do this. The comments also suggest that for some (even those who didn't add water) it came out soupy -- in which case you could strain the beef, cook down the liquid in a pan on the stove, and then serve it all together over the noodles. Just my 2 cents!

Thanks, Nicole. I had printed out a recipe with this same exact name quite a while back and it has all of the same ingredients except that it does list 1/4 cup of water. Unfortunately, the recipe I had printed doesn't have the website on it so I just searched and found this one. Peoples comments about water made me think that's where the one I have came from but was confused since no water is listed. Definitely not going to add water now. Hope it comes out yummy. I usually use a recipe of my mom's on the stove with veal round cut into strips but thought I'd try something different today.

Let me know how it comes out! My mom's stovetop recipe uses a combo of Lipton's onion soup mix, Campbell's beef consomme, Wondra and sour cream for the sauce. It's delish. What's your mom's?

It came out pretty good. I did have to mix some cornstarch & water to thicken the gravy some but we enjoyed it and have some leftover that I put in the freezer for another time. My mom's recipe calls for a Veal Round cut into pieces/strips. You can use beef round but it would need to cook a lot longer to get tender. Basically, salt & pepper the round, brown it in a small amount of oil, add several cloves of garlic (chopped), a can of Golden Mushroom Soup, 1 can of water and parsley flakes. Cook over med. heat until meat is tender, stirring occasionally. Add water if gravy thickens too much. Serve over noodles with a dollop of sour cream added on top.
