This was my mistake--I should have realized the photo did not match the instructions, but yes, the volume is nearly identical, so you are safe using either pan. (The area of an 8x8 inch pan = 64 square inches and a 9-inch round pan = 63.59 square inches.)
The volumes between a 8x8" square pan (called for in the written recipe) and a 9" diameter round pan (used in the video) are almost identical (less than 2%) so either should work fine without ingredient adjustments.
There are websites that list pan volumes. You should bookmark one of these for future reference. Sorry I don't have any personal recommendations since I did the calculation myself.
The recipe was updated by the author to correct the origin calling for an 8x8 inch pan to a 9" round with the 8x8 pan as an alternative—less than 1% difference. We both did the math too.
