Planning an end-of-the-summer, last-hurrah camping trip? Lucky you! Just remember that hunkering down in a tent doesn't mandate the roasting of hot dogs on sticks (unless, of course, you want to). Pack your bug spray, your flashlight, and your GORP—but eat well, too!

When we camp, it almost always involves many miles of backpacking with at least 1000 ft of elevation gain -- usually more like to 2-3 thousand. Weight is an issue. High energy food is essential. These can also be taken on day hikes: They're simply perfect. ;o)
