16 Recipes to Make Tonight a Pizza Party

September 11, 2015

Sometimes you want to eat dinner with your hands—and what better way to do it than with pizza, on a Friday night, with a group of friends reaching in for a slice of the good stuff?

Make a batch of dough before your friends arrive so that it has time to rise (or pick up some premade dough from the grocery store), prep your sauces, and lay out the toppings so that when the oven is hot, everyone can pick and choose what they want on their side of the pizza.

Tonight, we're channeling our inner pizzaiolos (with a big glass of red in hand). Here are 16 recipes to help you get your homemade pies just right:

Start with the dough:

I have tried a lot of pizza doughs & Michael Ruhlman is by far my favorite. I use red russian heirloom kale as a topping before baking to give it the green & burratta gives it a creaminess. Carmelizing red or yellow onions gives great flavor, roasted peaches with Italian sausage or some form of bacon is my favorite.

Saturday night is pizza night at our house. Home made dough brushed with olive oil, liberally spread with sour cream and fresh chopped garlic; sliced sweet onions, chopped bacon, dollops of brie and shavings of parmesan. A few fresh tomato slices. Sprinkle with more shaved parmesan when it comes out of the oven and chopped fresh oregano or basil. Very yum!

I received a beautiful pizza stone from my sister and on Sunday I made pizza dough for the first time and topped it with fresh mozzarella, mushrooms tomato, onion and peppers. It was delicious, I will definitely use some of these recipes for next time!

I always make white pizza. Pesto, garlic, spinach, mushroom, and of course a mountain of cheeses!

They all look great! I also love Pizza Capricciosa with ham and mushrooms...I ate it at the Barilla Restaurant in NYC and I think the recipe is very easy! http://barillarestaurants.com/pizza/capricciosa

I made pizza this weekend as well. I used tomatoes from the garden and roasted them for the sauce!

We make prosciutto and olive pizza or bison or lamb pizza. I buy the dough from whole foods and either make sauce or find one and tweek it.
