I have a question about the recipe "Hummingbird Cake" from modest marce. What do you do with the bananas? It just says add them, but doesn't say if they should be sliced, mashed, etc.

It's really up to you. I would mash them coarsely, that will incorporate them without the gluey texture making the cake leaden, and will lend to the flavor. You could also just dice them finely.
opps! i will edit that.. but yes i mash them with a potato masher until the majority of the clumps are gone:) make sure to use really ripe bananas!
