I love meatballs in brown gravy. Maybe you could make Swedish meatballs.

Make this:
Apple cider mustard gravy
4 1/2 TBSP. Butter
3/4 cup minced onion
3 TBSP. Flour
1 large Gala apple, peeled & chopped
1 1/2 cups half & half or milk
1 cup chicken broth
3/4 cup apple cider
2 bay leaves
1 TBSP. Dijon mustard (I use country style)
1 1/2 tsp. Fresh sage, chopped.
Saute the onions in butter. Add flour & cook /stir until golden color. Whisk in remaining ingredients except half & half. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and add half & half. Simmer until thickened. Season to taste with salt & pepper. This is excellent on pasta, chicken, beef, pork veggies etc.

This looks scrumptious and divine :). Nothing like meatballs in gravy to comfort.

Think of meatballs not as italian, as they were mostly or wholly vdrvelppef in USA.
Rather, think of them by the meat they're made of (beef, turkey, etc) and use a sauce compatibken

Argh. Was still editing.
Developed.
Compatible.
Sauce possibilities - mushroom, peanut ginger, hot and spicy (red or green), brown gravy, etc.
