Would this work with an egg substitute?

I was wondering if this recipe would work if an egg substitute was used? I love to bake for my hun who has gluten, dairy and egg allergies. Its been really fun to explore new recipes with all this time at home this past year. I also try to recreate classics that he can eat that actually taste good! lol
This torte sounds delicious! Hoping there may be a good sub for the eggs.
Fingers crossed,
JG

Hi! Thanks for your interest in my torte. I see you've already had a great response. Thanks Nancy. I was going to say that I've never tried it with an egg replacement. Nancy makes an excellent point that the recipe already have a leavening agent, so that's covered. In this case the eggs would be more of a binder. Have you heard of a product called Just Egg, which is actually a plant based product. I haven't used it, but I've heard good things. I might also add 1/2 teaspoon of xantham gum as a binder. This really is a delicious cake, if I do say so myself. I hope it works out and you enjoy it.

Yes, I've had success using egg replacements in cakes like this.
As the recipe has baking powder, it's only partly dependent on eggs for rise.
I would use maybe half a replacement with rising action (like vinegar and baking soda) and half another replacement (like soft tofu or applesauce).
See attached post for a list of possible replacements.
