18 Breads for Breaking Passover

April 18, 2017

Don't cry for me: Passover's been a breeze this year. I ate matzo chilaquiles and matzo spanakopita. I finished off a bottle of Manischewitz by choice. I ate my way through 3 1/2 pounds of chocolate (Double this recipe and you will truly use 3 1/2 pounds of chocolate).

The hardest part? Not a day passed when I was not offered a piece of bread, a slice of ice cream cake, an oatmeal cream pie (at 11 PM, at a bar). Last Tuesday, I said "no thank you" to a black sesame kouign amman. (Okay, cry for me now.)

Tonight at sunset, Passover ends. I'll likely go wild with a pizza bagel and a pile of chickpeas, and some baba ghanouj, but here's a small selection of the lofty, yeasted foods I'd like to be offered in the coming week. Ready the flour!

If you could only eat one type of bread for the rest of your life, what would it be? Tell us in the comments below.

I used to work at Food52. I'm probably the person who picked all of the cookie dough out of the cookie dough ice cream.

The toughest part for me was constantly forgetting my lunch when leaving for work.
