June 14, 2013

Everyone knows how to make pasta. Boil water, pour in dry pasta, follow the instructions on the back of the box, and voilà: a heaping plate of spaghetti, penne, or farfalle. But just because pasta is simple doesn't mean it has to be boring. Here are 10 recipes to help you turn up the flavor on your basic pasta dishes. Don't just douse your pasta in butter -- add sauces, cheeses, and vegetables that will take your pasta game to a whole new level.

Maybe you have to be Italian not to think that pasta gets "boring." Fresh, homemade pasta sauce, no matter which I choose to make never tastes boring to me, my family, or any other Italian family I know. In fact my son doesn't complain if he has it for lunch AND dinner (which I don't approve of, naturally.) One of my favorites is my Zia's Vodka sauce recipe, which is ready before the pasta is finished cooking, so it's fabulous for when you have nothing planned for dinner, but want something quick and homemade- http://www.christinascucina.com/2013/06/zia-francescas-penne-alla-vodka.html
