Amazing to see a picture that I took on the front page! Thanks for picking mine...especially with so many excellent options.

It's a great recipe, and such an interesting photo, too. Congratulations! Where do you buy black rice, by the way? I was in Chinatown in Oakland today on the way back from meetings on the Peninsula (buying Chinese peanut oil and white miso, among other things) and didn't see black rice anywhere. Thanks!!

I also don't readily see it at Chinese markets. I have seen 'forbidden rice' at Whole Foods in packaged form and the same labeled 'black rice' in the bins. I bought some at a Korean market in Daly City. I actually have multiple opened bags because I keep forgetting I have some and buying more every time I see it.

Yes, the black rice is a Korean food. It's enjoyable, but, it takes about 4 hours or more to soak and one often doesn't have that prep time available.

Merrill and Amanda - Oh thank you so much for the mention! You have no idea how much happiness this brings me-it made my week. I feel like a child on her 10th (double digit, the best!) birthday! I am utterly honoured and utterly humbled to be in such lovely company. Congrats to all. Best wishes, shayma
