14 Untraditional, Not-Pumpkin-Pie Thanksgiving Desserts

We love pumpkin pie. We've written about the right pumpkin pie for your personality and made it gluten-free and even cookie'd it. But, for those of you who don't like pumpkin pie or maybe just want something a bit less quintessential and bit more untraditional, Thanksgiving is not a lost cause!

We have your slightly rogue Thanksgiving desserts, courtesy of cookbook author, pastry chef, and chocolatier Alice Medrich. They might not please the Thanksgiving purists—that is, until they taste them—but these 14 non-pumpkin pie (or any pie) desserts are worthy of a place at your holiday table.

Do you make an "untraditional" dessert on Thanksgiving? Tell us in the comments below!

I fall in love with every sandwich I ever meet.

My 8yo has requested a trifle.

So jealous. Year after year, my usually hip family rebels if served a dessert other than the standards. Yes, they'll eat a few bites... but then complain about lack of pecan pie, or apple pie. The only "new" twist they've accepted is serving cheese along with T'giving on dessert. But for me--I'll have to find some other occasion to make that pecan crusted genoise. Who knows, maybe I'll feel like celebrating on Wednesday November 9... I've got my fingers crossed.

Allow me to testify on behalf of the sherry-olive oil cake. It is divine, and so easy!
